Our charity: water update!

We rang in 2018 by making an exciting investment in charity: water’s work in Bangledesh. After 3 years of truly transformative work, we are proud to announce that this World Water Day, our donations (with your help!) have funded 5 Piped Systems for people living in the Faridpur, Gopalganj, Barishal, Jhenaidah, Bagerhat, Jashore, Satkhira, Chattogram, and Cox's Bazar Districts of Bangladesh.

With each purchase you made on drinksoma.com, we donated a percentage back charity: water, making this project possible. Your donation was part of a commitment that funded 262 projects and brought clean water to 277,102 people, allowing them to the spend the time they now have back to focus on their families, businesses, and lives.

This initiative implemented piped systems in schools that bring water from deep tube wells to tap stands for drinking and handwashing. Each school receives one piped system (one “project”) with one or two tap stands. Each tap stand has soap, as well as wall paintings with hygiene messages. All staff, children, and, where possible, parents and community members associated with these schools, also receive comprehensive hygiene and sanitation education. At schools with particularly high populations and an insufficient number of toilets to serve sanitation needs, charity: water also funds the construction of new latrine blocks.

But we’re not done yet! As of March 2021, funded 5 New Community Water Filters in Cambodia. We’re on our way to providing 171,510 people with clean and safe drinking water in the Battambang, Kampong Cham, Kampong Chhnang, Kampot, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Tboung Khmum, Kampong Thom, and Siemreap Provinces of Cambodia.

We're hoping to make an even BIGGER impact this year. To celebrate World Water Day, we're matching 100% of the contribution you make to charity: water each time you purchase from drinksoma.com, meaning you're doubling our impact.

Happy shopping!
